Observatory

High above Passau, every Wednesday evening when the sky is clear, the observatory on the New Rampart of Veste Oberhaus invites you to discover the celestial bodies in the solar system and beyond our galaxy. Founded in 1962 on the initiative of the Bavarian Youth Hostel Association, the observatory enables visitors to view the remotest regions of the universe through modern telescopes, under the qualified supervision of experienced amateur astronomers.
